     Cho đa thức bằng 0 , ta có :
    -x^{4} – 2x + 12 = 0
    ⇔ – (x^{4} + 2x – 12) = 0
    ⇔ – [ (x^{4} – 2x³ + 4x² – 6x) + (2x³ – 4x² + 8x – 12)] = 0
    ⇔ – [ x(x^{3} – 2x² + 4x – 6) + 2(x³ – 2x² + 4x – 6) = 0 
    ⇔ – (x + 2)(x³ – 2x² + 4x – 6) = 0
    ⇒ x = – 2
    hoặc x³ – 2x² + 4x – 6 = 0   (vô nghiệm)
    Vậy đa thức -x^{4} – 2x + 12 có nghiệm là x = – 2
