a) 2\sqrt{x^2+x-1}+x^2=-x+4
đkxđ: x^2+x-1>=0 (**)
Đặt \sqrt{x^2+x-1}=a (a>0)
pt đã cho <=>2a+a^2+1=4
<=>a^2+2a-3=0
<=>(a^2-a)+(3a-3)=0
<=>(a-1)(a+3)=0
<=>$\left[\begin{matrix} x=1(t/m)\\ x=-3(loại)\end{matrix}\right.$

    <=>2\sqrt{x^2+x-1}+x^2+x-4=0
    Đặt \sqrt{x^2+x-1}=a(a>=0)
    Ptrình đã cho viết lại:
    2a+a^2-3=0
    <=>a^2-a+3a-3=0
    <=>(a-1)(a+3)=0
    <=>[(a=1(tm)),(a=-3(\text{Loại})):}
    ->\sqrt{x^2+x-1}=1
    =>x^2+x-1=1
    <=>x^2+x-2=0
    <=>x^2-x+2x-2=0
    <=>x(x-1)+2(x-1)=0
    <=>(x-1)(x+2)=0
    <=>[(x=1),(x=-2):}
    Thử vào (***) ta thấy cả hai nghiệm đều thỏa mãn
    Vậy S={1;-2}
