    5+[-(-12)+(-9)]-[7-(-10)+3]
    =5+(12-9)-(7+10+3)
    =5+(12-9)-(10+10)
    =5+3-20
    =8-20
    =-12

    5 + [- (-12) + (-9)] – [7 – (-10) + 3]
    = 5 + (12 – 9) – (7 + 10 + 3)
    = 5 + 3 – 20
    = -12
