    a ) 35 – x = 16 – ( -2 ) = 16 + 2 = 18
    x = 35 – 18 = 17 
    b ) x – 2 = ( -7 ) – 9 = -16
    x = -16 + 2 = -14 
    c ) 15 -2 x = 11 – ( -2 ) = 11 + 2 = 13
    x = 15 – 13 = 2 
    d ) x – 1 = ( -2 ) – 3 = -5
    x = -5 + 1 = -4
    e ) 12 + ( 2x – 11 ) = 53
    2x – 11 = 53 – 12 = 41 
    2x = 41 + 11 = 52
    x =  52 : 2 = 26
