Đặt $: y = \sqrt{2x – 1} >= 0 => y^{2} + 2 = 2x + 1$

$ PT <=> 2x^{3} – 12x^{2} + 28x – 24 – 2(2x + 1)\sqrt{2x – 1} = 0$

$ <=> 2(x^{3} – 6x^{2} + 12x – 8) + 4(x – 2) – 2(y^{2} + 2)y = 0$

$ <=> 2[(x – 2)^{3} – y^{3}] + 4(x – 2 – y) = 0$

$ <=> 2(x – 2 – y)[(x – 2)^{2} + (x – 2)y + y^{2} + 2] = 0$

$ <=> x – 2 – y = 0 <=> x – 2 = y$

$ <=> (x – 2)^{2} = y^{2} (x >= 2)$

$ <=> x^{2} – 4x + 4 = 2x – 1$

$ <=> x^{2} – 6x + 5 = 0 => x = 5$ (loại $x = 1$)

KL : PT có nghiệm duy nhất $x = 5$
